This is a plan to rebuild a house located in a residential area surrounded by a high wall, with a road on the east side and a culvert on the south side.

The existing house had a large lot that required a lot of maintenance for the landscaping, and the environment was prone to mosquito breeding, so for this project we shared our ideas for the building layout and garden with the client while carrying out the construction.

Conventionally, if the house were to be placed to the north and the garden to the south, the area of the garden to be managed would be too large, so this time we considered a U-shaped layout to enclose the garden and ensure privacy.

While the actual indoor area will be U-shaped, one side on the south side will be used as outdoor space, and the open parts of the U-shape will be connected to form a U-shape for movement around. We believe that by enclosing the area, we will be able to prevent mosquitoes from entering the inside to some extent.

The gardens are divided by the house - the approach garden from the gate to the front door, the enclosed courtyard, and the western garden viewed from the living room - and as you move around the house they sometimes appear and sometimes disappear from each room, presenting different views depending on the angle and time of day, yet still expressing a continuous garden form.

In the center of the L-shaped courtyard, a large giant pine tree that was there before the house was rebuilt remains, and it plays an important role in watching over the house.
