The figure-8 shaped floor plan creates a circulation path around the perimeter.

The layout should be such that there are minimal hierarchical differences.

This is a plan for a single-story house, which is one of my specialties.

The client requested a space that was well ventilated and where children could run around.

At the same time, there was a request for a built-in garage and loft, and as the floor area was large, we also took care to select materials, including cost control.

We decided on the rule of "not using anything that pretends to be a different material, but using the materials in their natural form," and worked with the client to choose the interior and exterior, resulting in a simple yet pure finish.

The layout places the children's room and Japanese-style room, which are private rooms, on the north side of the living room, while an attic space is provided to connect the spaces, and the air environment is unified throughout the house, even extending to the free space to the north. In contrast to the open living room, the children's room and Japanese-style room are placed inside the shed, giving them a calm, small box-like feel. The temperature in all of these spaces is controlled by regular air conditioners installed near the floor, and the plan is such that even in winter, everyone can experience a uniform level of comfort, even in the hallway. As always, this plan has circulation routes and is a fun design with no dead ends, but this time there are two major circulation routes within the house, and the circulation route is planned to be like a figure eight, including the route for housework such as washing the bathroom.

During the tour, children spontaneously ran out and started playing tag, but this was exactly the correct way to use the building. By passing through the building, people can enter and exit every room equally, and at the same time, the breeze flows and the residents can walk around the house, as if they are getting the blood flowing in their bodies.

In this way, no one is left out and any room can be used freely; I think the good thing about this type of single-story house plan is that there is little difference in hierarchy between the rooms.
